there's probably a few ways but the way i can think of off the top of my head would be to put a little php page in an iframe. Then just set a javascript timer (find some random javascript code on google real quick) that will reload that page every xx seconds.. Just that iframe will refresh.

Only annoying thing will be people on IE, listening to the 'click.wav' sound everytime a page loads. No good reason for this unecessary built in windows feature, we can thank Microsoft for this decision. Yes, my own mouse isn't enough clicks, please simulate one more! Nice.

I have just inserted something like that, most of these
use AJAX and there are couple of good free examples
of these you can download, I didn't integrated it to cutenews
although I tried couple of ideas that I had, but i think it can
be achieved, but for me, I chose to make a cutepage that had
the code for the content of the slider (picture, title and link)
and there I just edit it each time, comfortable enough for me :)

And for the script, just search google for Ajax Slider or so.
Here are some sliders that I liked:

http://webdeveloperplus.com/jquery/feat ... jquery-ui/

http://www.webresourcesdepot.com/jquery ... sy-slider/

And there are more, they are easy to edit and include in your site,
hope it helps. :)
