I'm sorry Scott.
Maybe I was harsh. But it's been hard getting support here lately. FIDD seems to respond lately that he's too busy to do certain things, if he even responds at all. The only support I get is from other users when they show up and the forums here seem very non-active when I come here.
Bottom line, I enjoy cutenews. I've been using it literally for years and I was highly excited to see that it moved here to cutenewsru. It got 100x better than I ever imagined. Compared to wordpress and other news systems I've tried it's literally light years ahead.
I guess I don't know what's going on in you developers lives, but I'd like to see cutenews be up there with wordpress and it's just not. The last update was over a year ago. The little tweaks put here should be implemented into some updates.
I've read a post, I think from you that says that you guys aren't even focused on working on "Strawberry"...
My bad, I tend to get a little passionate when I write. But I really enjoy cutenews and would like to stick with it. But I don't see it going in a positive direction. I hope it doesn't go out the way the original version did.
Hell, if cutenews offered the same mainstream features that are popular, I'd donate,
1. A working tag system or tag cloud. Not this confusing xfield stuff, I can't even figure it out.
2. Updated spam bot protection, like "what is the third word in this sentence" type of questions. Not that captcha crap, I've used captcha dozens of times on other scripts and it doesn't work. The bots can read them somehow. Thank god for the spam filter, that actually does work.
3. Blog rolls, to help affiliation.
4.
http://www.zemanta.com/ intergration. They are asking for news systems to join.
5. Same with tag clouds, a working related post function. Again, not the xfield thing. I don't know how to work it.
6. Better translation to English and other languages. Still a bunch of Russian text in the help files. Fine if you want this only for Russians.
7. The last major version was in what? 2005?
I know you guys are still working on the script all the time, I'm not saying you're doing nothing. But it seems the passion is gone.
