Newletter

Postby FI-DD » Thu May 11, 2006 5:56 pm

I thought I uploaded it some time ago but I can't find it anymore.

So here it is again:

With the newsletter hack you can send your posts by mail to your subscribers.

You can add emails manually through the admin panel or you can show a little subscribe box where people can leave their email to get the newsletter.

You can select the emails from the database which should receive the newsletter.

Read the readme.txt for installation instructions.

How do we use the {nl} tags? Do we create a new template for the newsletter? I'm a bit confused on how the selected stories are sent, it'll say the newsletter was created, however nothing is sent. When i click on send newsletter, it has two break tags.

any help is appreciated.

Newsletter Bug

Postby ksen » Tue Jun 13, 2006 4:22 am

There is a bug in the delete funtion of the newsletter plugin. When u have a list of email addresses and u want to delete a email from the list its always the email address right at the top of the list that gets deleted!!

And also is it possible to list the email addresses in alphabatic order??

Its working but not quite good.

I had problems with:

- sendig email to subscriber after subscription (option Mail on subscription enabled)

- the name was wrong written to emails.txt (in every time there was number 11)

I corected this probles.

If someone have the same problems I can put on this topic changed files.

csv import/export - outlook db syncronisation

Postby warriorking » Sat Aug 26, 2006 3:48 pm

hi FI-DD,

i d badly need the newsletter to support csv import and export.

import is needed to automatically add my entire outlook db (5000 recipients) to it in one step to get started. and then when i get new entries in my outlook db to add those to my online newsletter db (i ll also use the script i mention further down just to add the new outlook entries instead of importing my entire outlook db again). i know all those outlook recipients didnt officially subscribe to my newsletter so it s kinda incorrect to add them on my own but that is no issue as i know they d want it and of course they can still unsubscribe.

export is needed to export its db and then import it in my outlook. i ll write a script on my own (or maybe u could also do that if not too much work =) ) to only add the latest subscribers so i dont have to import the enitre db but only its latest entries as it takes much time to import like +5000 recipients in csv format in outlook as i experienced.

by that way i ll syncronise my outlook db with my online mysql newsletter db to make sure both r always up-to-date.

any chance u could add this feature? thx so much in advance.

u rox - i m a big fan =)

cheerz,

another feature needed: sending confirmation

Postby warriorking » Sat Aug 26, 2006 3:56 pm

i just thought about another crucial feature i d need:

would it be possible to add a feature that requires a confirmation (just like it does in forums as e.g. this one) before the subscriber gets added? hence once a subscriber subscribes he ll get an email sent to the email address he subscbired with and in it is a confirmation url link he has to click before he finally gets added to the newsletter.

by that way it is impossible to fill in bogus emails into the newsletter db or also to add emails of guyz u know to get em fucked with newsletters they never subscribed to themselves which isnt as funny as the guyz who do this think it is.

pls make this possible!!

thx a lot,

greets FI-DD,

another essential feature i d need would be that it skips eventual double email entries. hence wether it overwrites existing entries when adding the same entry again or it will just skip them when sending out the newsletter. assuming u ll realise the csv feature it is crucial that it will only check for the email column (in csv) as some entries might have different names but the same email address.

respects,

WK
