Newsticker

May I ask a question regarding to the newsticker?
in the js.tpl there is header[x] = "{date}:";
can I show the category instead of the date? as I tried to change the {date} with {category} but it didn't work with me.

How do change the direction of the text in the newsticker from "ltr" to "rt"l and the charset?
I tried to change in newsticker.php but I couldn't.
