Video, Music and Menu plugin... CNR is losing ground

What do you think about the script.

Video, Music and Menu plugin... CNR is losing ground

Postby D72 » Sat Jan 16, 2010 12:10 pm

I have to say it. CNR, again is a beautiful cms, but is running slowly behind many other cms systems.
These days you cannot deny it, we live in a multi and rich media time period. Video content is getting more important everyday.
CLients make short business videos, business presentation, artists make sneek peeks of videooclips and new tracks and they all want to presentate it to it?s website visitors. CNR is simply not the solution for it.

What i experience is that clients want custom menu structures. Custom menus and a decent, but simple photo gallery.
Again, CNR is getting behind with these features, unfortunately. I still experimenting with other cms systems, but none of them has the simplicity of CNR to implement your design into a cms.

I want to keep using CNR, but when a client has specific whishes, i?m almost required to grab my hands on a different cms.

I?m really, really missing options in CNR like selecting a category for appearing in a menu and an option to create more menus based on selected categories.
And like i said above, i really, really miss rich media features like a simple video plugin, music plugin and a good photo gallery.
These plugins are by far the most standard options in any kind of cms system. Looks like CNR is losing strength in this cms world...

a shame...

Well, for adding photos, videos etc' you can just use
TinyMCE or CKEditor or other WYSIWYG editor plugin
they all have these functions and much more :)

For menus and Galleries, I just use other free scripts
there are lots of free menu and gallery scripts of all kinds
For menus one would want AJAX, one would want just plain html with images
one would want Flash and other features such as subcategories, vertical, horizontal
animation etc etc.. so it is also kinda hard to please everybody and make
such a dynamic all kinds menu, that also pretty easily you can search
the web and fetch the right one for you. :)

We can add some free menu tools for our new version or so,
it can be useful I agree, we can also make a topic with links
and info about kinds of free menu scripts which will be also
useful for users to select. :D

As for galleries, kinda the same, there are many scripts, with database,
without database, AJAX, PHP, ASP, Flash, categories, just folders and many more..
So we can think of a way to add some kind of gallery script to the new
version that will be a choice. :)

Just for the record I used MiniShowcase, free, nice looking, no DB
gallery, with some options and stuff - Link

Also, for making some kinds of picture galleries, video galleries and so
you can use CNR itself, make a category called picturegallery for example
then use the templates to show the pictures however you like in the page
and every post will be a picture (or more), you can use titles for names
fullstory for info and more. ;)
