Update forum software

Postby Ramon » Tue Nov 16, 2010 3:35 pm

Hi Guys,

I can't seem to find the time to update the forum software for CNR. We need to update in our fight against the spam :lol:

Any volunteers, please contact me @ Gtalk (ramon.mol@gmail.com)

Cheers,

Ramon

Today i had some spare time and decided to finally update the forum software.

Metalhawk has been given the hosting details so he'll be your anchorpoint from now on.

After the update of the forum to phpbb3 there was a problem with the search, which produced an error of showing no results for whatever term you may have searched.
The problem is now fixed, and search is again fully functional.

If anyone noticed any bugs, errors or misbehaviour of the forum, do let us know.

Also great work, but you have to change the Forunlogo, and let the cutenewsru.com index page be updated too!
but why:
BBC code is OFF?
Smilies is OFF?
Editing/removing owen post OFF?
<?php

function label_encode($txt) {

// add Z to the begining to avoid that the resulting
// label is a javascript keyword or it starts with a
// number
$txt = 'Z'.$txt;

// encode as urlencoded data
$txt = rawurlencode($txt);

// replace illegal characters
$illegal = array('%', '-', '.');
$ok = array('é', 'è', 'à');
$txt = str_replace($illegal,$ok, $txt);

return $txt;
}

function label_decode($txt) {

// replace illegal characters
$illegal = array('%', '-', '.');
$ok = array('é', 'è', 'à');
$txt = str_replace($ok, $illegal, $txt);

// unencode
$txt = rawurldecode($txt);

// remove the leading Z and return
return substr($txt,1);
}

?>
There is still work to be done. I was planning to change the skin of the forum, but I am currently running low on free time so I will probably do it in the time between Christmas and New year.
I also have an idea for the front page of CNR site, which would be powered by CNR, which I m hoping to do shortly aswell.

About the things which you state that are OFF, well, to be honest, I can't confirm that, because all those features are turned ON in the configuration. Check in >> User control panel >> Board preferences >> Edit posting defaults if you have all the options enabled from your side.

I have checked the configuration to see about the edit/delete feature, those were really disabled. I have set the interval for editing/deleting your own posts to 15 minutes. I hope that time will be enough.

Ah, now I'm guessing what is going on. Reason for that would be a special permission setup for this current forum, which was configured way back ago by FI-DD and Ramon.

Spam again, actually what are you doing?
opening forum for nothing, no time for support, no time for update, no time for replay answers, no time for security fix, no time to update index page...etc
Dear CNR op's, you are busier than Obama :)

The spam is problematic indeed. They seem to go too easy through the GD 3D captcha, I even reduced the number of attempts which can be done before forum terminates the session, but they still come and spam. I'm giving my best to keep the board clean every day so that forum is useful at least in some way.
